Zimbabwe Launches Millennium
Development Goals Report

Zimbabwe launched its Millennium Development
Goals Report in Harare, with pledges by Government,
Business and Civil society to prioritise eradicating
poverty, empowering women and fighting the HIV/AIDS
pandemic. Zimbabwe President, Robert Mugabe, officially
launched the report and reaffirmed his support
for the 2002 Millennium Declaration endorsed by
more than 190 world leaders in Johannesburg, South

HIV/AIDS and
Natural Resources in Southern Africa

HIV/AIDS in southern Africa is mostly affecting
15-49 year age groups. This also happens to be the
most economically active group in the region. A
survey carried out by the Southern Africa HIV and
AIDS Information Dissemination Service (SAFIDS)
shows that Swaziland has the highest infection rate
at 40 percent, while Botswana, Lesotho, Zimbabwe,
Namibia, South Africa and Mozambique are among the
